Carol McFarlane (Director)

Miss Carol


Carol is a Registered Nurse and a Nursing Administrator. She has been dancing since an early age, training at Henrique's, Footlights and Bucks County Dance Academy. She has been a dance instructor for over 20 years at various schools including the former Newtown School of Dance.

As a Dance Instructor, Ms. Carol has taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop to students from ages 3 till adult. Ms. Carol’s passion and love for dance are evident through the student’s achievements and smiles. Her motto is “Dance is fun” and that is so true when you look at the all of the students faces each and every day.

Ms. Carol is so very proud of her students and instructors for everything they accomplished these last 6 years, including Excaliber awards for dance, choreography awards, multiple platinum awards, many judges awards and so much more, and she is looking forward to many more years of success and fun!

Samantha McFarlane


Samantha is a graduate of West Chester University. She is a member of the Air Force Reserves and is employed with them as a Personalist.

Samantha trained at Kay's Footlights, Newtown School of Dance and Wissahicken Dance Academy. She was a member of the University Dance Company at West Chester University and an instructor at Newtown School of Dance.

Samantha has danced at many venues and benefits around the state including the Fringe festival. She has staged and choreographed multiple functions at West Chester University including the yearly Mr. WCU pageant, the WCU production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the annual AIDS Benefit and for the last 2 University Dance Productions she was a student choreographer. She is also an active member of the United States Air Force Reserves.

Ms. Sam has won many choreography awards for her work.  She has been awarded many judges awards, first place awards and high score awards.  She is innovative in her ideas and challenges her students to achieve greatness. Samantha has a passion and love for life and dance that shows in her smile.

Colleen Buckley-Cunnius



Colleen is Student Guidance Counselor at the high school level who graduated from West Chester University where she was a member of the University Dance Company. She trained at The Dance Academy and had been an instructor at the Newtown School of dance for many years. Colleen also has been an instructor at BCCC including their “Kids on Kampus” sessions.

Colleen has danced since the age of 2 studying all forms of dance. During one period Colleen focused on traditional Irish Step dancing which excelled her to compete at regional and national levels. She has danced at Carnegie Hall and in Dublin Ireland. Colleen has performed with several Philadelphia and New York based dance companies. Colleen is so proud of her students for their dedication and hard work.

Ms Colleen has been awarded many judges awards, first place awards, choreography awards and high score awards for her competition routines. Colleen is a wonderful teacher who strives to always bring out the best in her students.






Alana Hardison



Alana Hardison graduated Cum Laude from The Ohio State University with a B.F.A. in Dance. She hasstudied ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and West African dance. Alana was a junior company member of Tap Team Two and Co. and a member of Circle in the Village African dance company. Alana's training took place at the former Newtown School of Dance.

Alana is very excited to be an instructor at Dance Action of Newtown. She loves the opportunity to teach the students and to see them grow in dance. Alana being a great perspective on dance and performance to the studio and her choreography embraces feelings and emotions beyond anything you will see.

Jessica Sweeney



Jess trained Miss at Knecht Dance Academy and took classes in ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical. She also was a student her senior year of high School at Dance Action and took Ballet and Jazz. She has competed amongst some of the top dancer in the world and has had the opportunity to take class with choreographers such as Nick Lazzarini and Sara Jo Fazio.. Miss Jess has a love for dance that started at a very young age when she watched her cousin's dance recital and still carries the same love with her.

She is currently a Liberal Arts major at Bucks County Community College and she plans on transferring to LaSalle University for Nursing. She is also an EMT.

Ms. Jess has won choreography awards for her competition pieces. She has also acquired many judge’s awards, first place finishes, and high score awards for the dances she has done. Ms. Jess helps to bring out her students flexibility, creativity and love of dance during her classes.

Mark McFarlane


Mark McFarlane have been dancing since the age of 6. He attended Newtown School of Dance and WIssahicken Dance Academy. Mark is a fitness instructor and certified pole fitness instructor. He has won many competitions for his dance abilities and has thousands of followers on Instagram for his videos and choreography. Mark loves to challenge his students to reach their full potential in dance and stresses that everyone who wants to dance can and should because dance holds in it something for everyone.

Julie Gould


Julie graduated from Bloomsburg University in the spring of 2014 with a BA in Journalism and English. She is an avid writer and has pieces featured on USA Today - College and Thought Catalog. She hopes to publish young adult novels one day, too. Her dance career began at age three at Stewart-Johnson Dance Academy in Hamilton, NJ. She studied Jazz, Ballet, Point and Tap. Once she arrived at college, she continued dancing for the Bloomsburg Dance Ensemble where she was a member of their tap class. Her junior year of college, she was voted to be the new tap teacher, and she continued teaching through her senior year. She also was appointed president of the dance organization for her senior year.

Dancing is a passion for Julie, and she hopes to continue teaching for a very long time. She wants to give children the opportunity to have fun and learn new dance moves at the same time.

Tara Leigh Lawson



Tara started dancing at a young age and graduated from Elite Dance Academy in 2008. She was a competitive dancer for 14 years in all styles of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Contemporary winning at many local and national levels. To further her love of dance, Tara attended American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. At AMDA she studied many styles of theater dance. Tara has always aspired to teach and to share the love of dance with others.

Ms. Tara’s funky Hip hop routines show the fun side of dance to her students. She inspires them to think outside the box and to use their movements to make stories come to life. 

Felicia V. Cruz

Felicia V. Cruz



Felicia started dancing when she was three at the Dolly Haltzman Dance Academy Allentown, PA under Dolores Haltzman, Jennifer Haltzman-Tracy, Maurice Brandon Curry and Gloria Govrin. She went on to train multiple summers at the Rock School in Philadelphia, and at Richmond Ballet of VA, where she was on scholarship. In 2002, she received an internship to study at Steps on Broadway in NYC. She graduated from the University of the Arts in 2010, obtaining her BFA in ballet with an emphasis in performance. A few of her performing highlights include; "Shut up and Dance" with the Pennsylvania Ballet, touring "Crossroads" with Jette` Performance Company, performing lead roles in "The Nutcracker", and "Dracula" with Repertory Dance Theatre , "Tell me what's next" by Mathew Neenan", ''I spiral into water" by Kate Watson-Wallace, "Threw the Wake" and "Caged", a solo, both done by Meredith Raniey .From 2010 - 2013 she was a member performing with Carbon Dance Theater under the direction of Meredith Rainey. She is a founding member (2008) and currently performing with DanceSpora. In 2011 she was promoted to assistant artistic director with DanceSpora.

Since then she has risen to resident choreographer and has set original works on the company, one of which, "For Tranquility's Sake", was selected to be performed at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in summer 2012. She has also had the opportunity to enter her choreography into the Star Power.
